Jordan Peel is a master of comedy and a master of horror now too! He is adding a remake of The People Under the Stairs to his credits. It will be interesting to see his take on this classic.
Wes Craven's original version gets a lot of hate. We at Spooky Obsessed love it! Crazy parents, gold coins, hidden feral children, Roach running through walls, sweet little Fool saving the day, and Ving Rhames, what's not to love?
What a lot of people don't know is a newspaper article inspired Wes Craven to write and make the movie.
In 1978 a pair of burglars broke into a Los Angeles home. When the police showed up what they found worse than a robbery. The owners of the home had been abusing their kids and had them locked in the basement. The children had never left the house in their entire life.
If not for someone committing a crime at the residence, these poor children may have never been discovered. You don't think someone breaking into your house could be positive but for these children it was.
